Damon Rentie is a native of Compton, California who started his career in 1977 by leaving Los Angeles and moving to New York with the band Atlantic Starr of A & M Records. After recording two albums with the group, Damon decided to come back to California and try his hand at a solo career. He released three albums with Palo Alto Records; Designated Hitter, Don’t Look Back and Skyline. All three reached top 20 spots on the Billboard Charts, but that wasn’t enough to fulfill his artistic talents.

Damon began recording with R&B bands, first with Debarge in 1982 on the "All This Love" album. He then decided to go on the road. Damon toured with Teena Marie, Billy Ocean, Patrice Rushen, Miki Howard and several other top hitters. Damon has played at arenas from Madison Square Garden, The Forum, Radio City Music Hall and throughout Japan.

It was then time to start a family. Having five children between 1984 and 2002, he was ready to get back to the passion of his music.

Damon met his muse and wife, Melique Berger in 2000. After hearing her melodic voice, he once again returned to the drawing board and "DAY-AHH" was born. This is the first endeavor Damon has taken on completely solo. Damon did all music, lyrics and production himself with the exception of Stevie Wonder's "VISIONS".

Damon and his wife, Melique, started Nu-Tone Records with DAY-AHH, which will be the first of many albums.
